Fluency across mediums, collaboration, and material production engender the work of Carter Mull. He performs multiple roles within the culture at large engaging both the production and circulation of the image. From painter and photographer, to speculator and curator, to designer and publisher, Mull’s practice actively participates in multiple sectors of the global economy, treating his production like a montage – to be at times delineated and at other times joined in an illicit union. His visual language takes into account the social drive and dimension of the contemporary subject. Sensitive to the relationship between time and subjectivity, his project speaks to the basic units by which we trade personal desires and emotional responses.
In 2018, as an outgrowth of Mull’s engagement with our economy at large, he established a social research design laboratory known as K-26, which specializes in televisiuality, global exchange, and sociality.
